850 DAF-employees striking: 'Production in Eindhoven halved'

EINDHOVEN - Employees of DAF strike again Friday to enforce a better agreement. The action is at the main gate of DAF in Eindhoven where the strikers can subscribe to. For the strike have registered as FNV Industrial 850 employees. This was reported by the organization Friday. DAF keeps about 450 absentees.

With employees of DAF located in Germany and Belgium record a total of 1,000 people on strike. According to FNV Metal DAF should do the production with fewer staff quarters, '' There are three trucks per hour of tape without fuel or ... ''. DAF denies that trucks would roll incomplete off the tire today. "They meet the high standards we’ve always asked," responded a company spokesman.

In total the strike of today has over 2,000 people working in the metal sector. DAF says, as two weeks ago, turning half of normal production. At a quarter past 10, there were 18 trucks, according to a spokesman of the band, compared to 33 in normal production.

DAF employees laid on May 29 even for a day's work down. The action took part in Eindhoven with at least 500 employees.

'Violating Rules'

The unions FNV and CNV argue that DAF has violated the strike and safety rules. Employees of external companies would be deployed in production.

The unions talked earlier about this with DAF last week. According to FNV director Petra Bolster the truck producer admitted in that conversation that employees of an external company did on the strike other than that for which they are normally hired. DAF did not make any statements about the conversation with the unions.
